Taking it Personally
The focus has shifted in the books of Acts from the mission of the church as a whole and the advancement of the gospel by a few to the experiences of one person as he fulfills God’s great commission to carry the gospel. For Paul in particular, Jesus told him that he was to “carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.” (Acts 9:15, ESV) This becomes the theme for the rest of the book. And as we watch God work through one person, we find timely lessons for our lives; and a call to take the gospel personally.
